Kincaid Indianapolis Kachin Baptist Church was established on August 3, 2025. The church was named in honor of Eugenio Kincaid, an American Baptist missionary whose work played a key historical role in bringing Christianity among the Kachin people of northern Burma. Before the Kachin people became Christians, many practiced animist beliefs. Around 1837, Eugenio Kincaid traveled to Kachin State to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ. During his mission, Kincaid was repeatedly robbed and faced severe threats from local communities. Despite these hardships, he remained resilient, holding fast to the hope that the villagers would one day be transformed through a renewal of faith. As he visited hundreds of villages, he preached the gospel to thousands of people and worked to gain a deeper understanding of Kachin culture. It was during this time that he gave the people the name “Kachin.” Although his time in Kachin State was short, his dedication helped lay the foundation for the growth of Christianity in the Kachin community. In honor of Kincaid's first step in bringing faith and of every missionary who carried that dream forward, Kincaid Indianapolis Kachin Baptist Church strives to carry forward the same mission of serving others. Today, Kincaid Indianapolis Kachin Baptist Church has grown to a congregation of over 200 members. Our mission is to spread the gospel globally while cultivating a community of faith that worships and serves the kingdom of God. Our worship services are held primarily in Jinghpaw, but we welcome all, whether you speak Jinghpaw or another language. You are invited to become part of our church family.
